Nieuw mailsysteem

Na vele jaren QMail als de mailserver gebruikt te hebben gaat ULYSSIS
overschakelen naar een nieuw op Postfix gebaseerd systeem. Dit heeft een aantal zeer grote implicaties, maar zal toelaten om nog beter je-eigen-domein.be te beheren. Voor meer informatie over wat er gaat veranderen verwijzen we naar http://www.ulyssis.org/node/447

Het nieuwe systeem wordt volop getest, de eigenlijk migratie zal voor begin februari zijn. We raden iedereen aan om het nieuwe systeem zelf ook eens te testen, zoals beschreven in de link hierboven.

In februari gaat ook de mysql server onder handen genomen worden: mysql zal worden geüpdatet naar mysql 5. We sturen ruim op tijd nog een mail wanneer de update plaatsvindt. We raden iedereen op nu al te starten met het updaten van je websites als de mysql 5 nog niets zouden ondersteunen. Voor de meeste mensen zal er niets veranderen, maar er zijn wel enkele incompatibiliteiten die je kan nalezen op http://dev.mysql.com/doc/refman/5.0/en/news-5-0-x.html en voor gevorderden http://dev.mysql.com/doc/refman/5.0/en/upgrading-from-4-1.html

ULYSSIS is going to switch their mail systems from QMail to Postfix in
the near future. This has some serious consequences, but it will allow us to better cope with individual domains at ULYSSIS. More information about the changes is available at http://www.ulyssis.org/node/447 for now this is dutch only but if necessary this can be translated.

Currently the new system is being tested, the actual migration will happen in February. We recommend everyone to test the new system at https://ucc.ulyssis.org.

In February the mysql server will also be updated to version 5. We'll notify everyone before the actual update will take place. We recommend everyone to start updating their websites if they don't support mysql 5 already. For most people nothing will have to happen, but there are some incompatibilities, which you can read at http://dev.mysql.com/doc/refman/5.0/en/news-5-0-x.html and, for experienced users, http://dev.mysql.com/doc/refman/5.0/en/upgrading-from-4-1.html
